I apologise as I did not explain myself clearly regarding the Wheel bearing fault that I have with my Holden Colorado.
The car had a booked service at 30,000 KLM at Ultra Tune Cairns, then at 40,000 we had them repacked at a Mechanical workshop in Townsville as we were starting long Trip.Bearing in mind we had not had any squealing noise at any time, until 60,000 KLM. We booked the car into Moxham Motors for a 60,000 KLM service and made it known at this time that we were hearing a severe squealing from the front wheels. Moxham called to say that the wheel bearings needed to be repacked and the seals replaced and this would not be covered by new car warranty. Please note that it had only been 20,000 KLM's since they were serviced at our request, the reason we requested for them to be repacked is because our sons (Colorado) had the same fault and we did not want to endure any issues while we were travelling.
Our sons car was repaired twice for the same problem by Moxham Motors under warranty.
We made contact with the complaints department of Holden and were told that we would not have any warranty as we did not get Holden to do the Book Services. We did not have any satisfaction talking to this person they were simply not interested that we have a fault with our car and now it has re-occured 2 weeks after Moxham Motors charged us $303. to fix the problem. We would like to talk with some body who is higher up in Holden other than the person that could not give a hoot.

> they replied with because Holden did not service my car I would not have warranty no longer....Problem is front wheel bearings squealing, Holden will not accept that it is a fault and I have paid for re-packed wheel bearings and seals at a cost of $303.

It is not obvious if Holden refused to accept the squeal was a fault and you went to Ultratune to get it fixed, or the exact cause-effect relationship.

If Moxham did not accept a squeal was under warranty and you then took the vehicle to Ultratune and had work done to correct it, Moxham is in the right and would not be obligated to cover that work. You would have had to argue your case up through the Holden hierarchy first. They may or may not have ever accepted it as a warranty issue, but the process is what it is, and not just with Holden.

If the service at Ultratune was unrelated and done to standards, although dealers consider it bad form for buyers to pay an independent shop for service, and then come back for warranty support, dealers and manufacturers are obligated to honour warranties regardless of where a vehicle was serviced, if documentation, standards, and procedures were followed. There are some limits in the legislation.

Search "new car warranty legislation" including the Australian Consumer Law web site. Assuming Ultratune did not do the repair to the front wheels and did everything else to standard, your "friends" would be at the WA Dept of Commerce (Consumer Protection).

Your weakest bit seems that regarding the squeal, the horse has bolted and you have no evidence regarding the problem you claimed. eusa_think.gif

Holden will not give warranty on my Holden Colorado because I had it serviced at Ultra Tune.Problem is front wheel bearings squealing, Holden will not accept that it is a fault and I have paid for re-packed wheel bearings and seals at a cost of $303. I have complained to Holden, they replied with because Holden did not service my car I would not have warranty no longer. There were no non genuine parts used on my car during any time of servicing.since having the wheel bearings re-packed and the new seals fitted, 2 weeks later and they are squealing yet again but Holden are saying this is not an issue and will not be covered by warranty. I beg to differ.
Moxham Holden in Karratha WA informed me that they were advised by Holden to cut back on all warranty claims, which I find disgusting and a severe blight on Holdens reputation.
My son has a Colorado and his wheel bearings were fixed by a Holden Dealership and were covered under warranty.
My advise to anyone considering purchasing a Colorado is to seriously look at a Mazda BT50 as there warranty and service is 2nd to none.

Have been doing a lot of research on the net and on one of the 4x4 forums found that this is a VERY COMMON problem that Holden are apparently aware of but choosing to ignore.

Seems the ride height needs to be adjusted back up after the bull bar is fitted and then wheel alignment done by a specialist and outside what Holden says is "within specs"

Off to the specialists next days off.

Thanks for nothing HOLDEN. icon_mad.gif

Maybe it needs to be adjusted outside manufacturer's specs. Think that a lot of dealers send that sort of job outside anyway....I'd still try and find a good independent yourself and get them to check it out fully.

Yep - twice - at 20000klm took it to Bridgestone who fitted the tyres and did another alignment - was told it was within manufacturers listed specs. At 40,000 the dealer sent it to an independent specialist who did the alignment and their report said the same "adjusted within manufacturers guidelines"

I purchased a 2010 Holden Colorado Lt-R with the 5 speed manual and 3.0 ltr Turbo Diesel in March 2010 - I have done 55,000 klms and am on my third set of front tyres. The car was fitted at time of sale with an ARB Bullbar and several other genuine accessories.

Every time I get a service (10,000klm) intervals I get a wheel alignment, only to be told the front tyres are scubbing out. Holden dealers (I've been to 3 now) keep telling me the vehicles front end is adjusted within the specifications and it is my fault the tyres scrub out, suggesting driving style and road conditions as excuses. I've owned 4WDs for years, driven over the same country roads for many years and got 75,000 klms from the tyres on my last 4wd so I cant accept this is my fault.

Has any one else had a similar experience, or have I landed a dud? Both front tyres always scrub on the inside and have noticable wear at 10,000 and require replacement at 20,000. The dealers all wash their hands of the problem stating that if the vehicle is adjusted within manufacturers specifications it is not a warranty issue - this seems unacceptable as obviously there is a problem with my vehicle and they are reluctant, or incapable of fixing it.

Im interested in input from people with similar experiences with the Colorado, or ideas on cause and how to rectify the problem.
