We had a Subeam flat panel convection heater which was purchased in July 2003 but "died" on 23/06/2006 - right at the end of it's 3 year warranty period. Having a newborn baby in the house we had not had the opportunity to take the heater back to the store of purchase for service/replacement.

On approximately 20/07/2006 I contacted Sunbeam's Customer Service department to get advice on what we should do given that the heater was now out of warranty, but had in fact died during the warranty period. I received a response from x at Customer Service within hours of submitting the email query. After checking with her supervisor x advised that Sunbeam was prepared to replace the unit even though it was officially out of warranty at the time the communication began.

This is superb customer service from Sunbeam, and should be acknowledged. We understand that Sunbeam may have had some concerns about a claim made outside of the warranty period, and appreciate the company's recognition of our honesty. We were very happy with the performance of the heater when we bought it and very disappointed when it broke down, as we were unlikely to be able to afford a replacement. Sunbeam even provided a larger upgrade model as ours was out of production!

Thank you Sunbeam and x for an excellent experience. This outstanding level of customer service will ensure that we continue to buy Sunbeam products in the future.

icon_biggrin.gif Sunbeam would have to be one of the best companies I have ever dealt with. Sunbeam often repair or replace products well outside of the warranty period if they consider that the malfunction should not have occurred. Where possible, I vote Sunbeam with my shopping dollars.

My Sunbeam Water Purifier and Chiller started to heat the water. It was a few months out of warrenty and when I called Sunbeam they not only replaced it but offered to send a courier to pick it up. Legally they didn't have to do anything. Good on ya Sunbeam - SAMSUNG can leard a few lessons from you!
