Post subject: Nokia: Nokia N97 is unreliable and absolute rubbish

I purchased a Nokia N97 in Dec 2009 and have had ongoing problems.
-Phone software supplied needs to be updated when you first start using phone.
-Software constantly crashing.
-Does not synchronise with PC.
-Map Loader does not work.
-Handset keeps freezing -sometimes even unable to hang up call -only recourse is to remove battery & restart.
-Been back to Nokia & Optus several times and spent over 5 hrs on phone -getting transferred back & forth.
-Rubbish phone! Rubbish service!

I have to agree. The phone is rubbish and Nokia is amhorrible company to deal with.
I have an N97 and it's the biggest peice of crap I have ever owned. the maps don't work unless you run the location program first.

The net is full of people complaining about Nokia and Nokia couldn't care less. It's like once Nokia has your money, tough luck. You bought it, Sucker!

I WILL NEVER, EVER HAVE ANOTHER NOKIA.

I should've bought an iPhone like I wanted to in the first place.

I don't have the N97, but I do have the N95, which is very similar. I love it. Everything works - including Maps. I had an issue with the Maps voice directions after my phone was stolen and later recovered without the sim card. After a replacement sim the voice directions did not work. I sent an email to Nokia support. It took about 10 days to sort out, but in that time Nokia regularly emailed me and twice a manager called me to discuss progress. All sorted out. eusa_clap.gif

So I can't complain about Nokia service and I definitely can't complain about the product.

Hmmmm. This thread is about the N97 but seeing as you brought up the N95, I have an N95 Nest G sitting in my cupboard draw because it was nothing but a peice of Crap. Nokia tried to fix it a couple of times but to no avail. I do have an N95, 8gb that has never had much trouble and I dare say it's because I was too scared to update anything on it.

You just have to look on the net to see what Nokia Service is like for thousands of other people.

One or two favourable comments about Nokia won't help the thousands of people who have nothing but trouble wit the company.

I now use a Samsung Ultra Touch because I,ve had it with Nokia.

Btw, The N95 that sits in my draw was sent back to nokia a couple of times and came back with the exact same fault. When it came back the second time, with the same fault, I got so frustrated, I threw it and broke the screen.

Anyhow, I hate Nokia And like thousands of others, will never have another one.

I agree. Nokia is crap. I always bought Nokia till a few years ago, and my last one was crap, can't remember the model, but was a piece of junk I did not want to remember, so please beware.

I have an HTC now and love it, so much smaller and lighter than an iPhone.

Nokia phones are CRAP with little or no back up from there service centers!

I will never buy NOKIA again after years of trouble very similar to other posts.I now have a HTC mobile phone that has not given me any problems!

I too opted for a Nokia N97 over the iPhone and boy, am I regretting it now. A plethora of problems including freezing, extremely delayed reaction to requests for the simplest things (eg. opening sms inbox), maps (what a nightmare), themes that can't be deleted, inability to find where my photos are stored on the phone, etc, etc. My first Nokia for about 10 years and truly my last. Never, ever again.

Every time I contact Nokia, they tell me to do updates and when the updates don't work and write back to them, no response.

Hopeless! Should've stuck with my trust Sony Ericssons...never had a problem with them.

I acquired a Nokia N97 on 17 July 2009. It was a piece of crap and was quickly returned, as was the next, the next, the next and so on. I'm not sure now if it was a total of 5 or 6 hansets, all within the space of two and a half months. Luckily for me, Virgin, my service provider was very understanding and allowed me to switch to a 32Gb iPhone which I am really happy with. My only gripe is no FM transmitter.

Prior to signing on for the N97 I had used both the Nokia N95 and N95 8Gb. The N95 was OK, but the maps were pitiful thanks how the GPS was set up. The N95 8Gb was a very good phone, far superior to the N97 with good GPS and I was a fool for trying to swap over. The N95 8Gb is totally different to the N97.

I also acquired a Nokia N97 in late 2009. Noting but a nightmare. This phone should have a RECALL placed to it and taken of the market. My first N97 phone had charging problems loose connection and the phone inner seems very loose something rattling inside, application problems etc. The first phone was sent away to 3's own repair store as requested by them, they sent it back saying no fault even though you cannot charge the phone and I had paid for extra warranty when purchased. Eventually they agreed to change this phone through the TIO for a NEW phone which they would send out to me. They sent me a REPLACEMENT phone which had a defect on the facia and problems working and no enclosed return package for other phone. They also failed to inform me if the phone was not returned i would still be charged for that phone and the new one. So I contacted 3 again. Eventually they then told me to take it to a 3 store they would exchange it for a NEW PHONE. While I was in the store another customer spoke to me and asked are you also having problems with your N97. He was picking up another new N97 phone too. So I take the new phone home charge it up the phone then seems okay, but wait this phone has problems to and switches it self off completely randomly. 3 then agree with TIO to change the phone to a Iphone, great. Then say they need to test the phone first in order to change it for a different phone. so I agree and of I go to the shop to hand the phone in to be checked over, remember this a brand new phone. almost one week passes I call on a Friday to enquire about my phone, the shop advises they had sent it of to the 3 repair store whom had advised them they had not looked at it. Then early the next week I get a call from the shop saying no fault reported with the phone. I advise the TIO on the outcome and also contacted 3 direct they say as the phone has no fault reported to them by their own service centre I should now contact Nokia direct. This Customer Service Advisor was the same rude one that hung up on me previously. Three new phones later and still having problems also paying for this handset which does not work correctly. when will Nokia take responsibility for this DUD. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. I have three different accounts with 3 and have been with them since day one in WA. You think they would try and be more helpful instead I have to deal with some very rude staff. eusa_wall.gif eusa_wall.gif eusa_wall.gif
