I received a well intentioned but unsuitable clothing gift, tag still attached, from my out-of-town aunt. The protocol is to exchange it at the store (particularly if it is a large retail chain and you have a VIP customer card), right? Well, Sussan won't co-operate with this request. Even if you were rude enough to ask for the receipt from your gift bearer, that won't help. Sussan will only exchange within 2 weeks, and I just know that my gift bearer has bought the item outside this timeframe. My family and I have been buying from Sussan for decades. Unless NGE works a miracle, I will actively boycott Sussan amongst my network.

As I recall, Sussan *used* to have a twelve month returns policy and so I am unfamiliar that it is now two weeks only - if that is the case this should CLEARLY be printed on their dockets which I can assure you, the one I have from December 2009 certainly does not. Perhaps you were served by an assistant who was unfamiliar with the usual protocol, or perhaps there are other circumstances (the garment was last season - no offence intended to your aunt) which caused this judgement call to happen. Nonetheless, I would either take it in writing to the Head Office, or perhaps make a call to Head Office and see if you can get anywhere. Good Luck, K

I have fallen prey to this previously, being one of those boreing people who do their Christmas shopping before the end of November. Whatever I purchase now, (for Christmas)I have the shop assistant write on the receipt.......Christmas present, exchangeable until a date (Itry to get the end of January).
I also think I will boycotte Susan's because I purchased three tops in this period (for myself, for a trip) and everyone of them have stretched beyone a joke even though I have followed the washing instructions to the letter. Won't bother taking them back as I feel I can't win.....Vinnies will be able to pass them on no doubt. icon_mad.gif

I am a long time Sussan shopper and buy 80% of my clothing from Sussan via numerous outlets and have been informed at every purchase since around sept. 09 that their refund policy has changed and is now only 2 weeks after sale. They also only exchange for faulty goods not "change of mind" sales and make this clear as well.

If people are buying gifts of clothing in this day and age maybe the gift card at the store is a more effective way as the clothing has a very short shelf life and is reduced to a sale area after a few weeks so why should the store lose money and ultimatly me the consumer have to pay more so they can cover their lossess?

I have been a very loyal Sussan's customer and for decades have bought most of my clothes there. I have almost without exception found the quality of their clothing to be excellent. I am still wearing some things I bought there over 25 years ago. I love their pyjamas. The cut of their clothing is also good (unlike Target). I was not aware of the change in their returns policy until reading these posts. I am appalled and very disappointed to hear about this. I will not be buying anything more from Sussans.
