I recently had need to replace parts in a fluorescent light fitting in a home fish tank which I understand was originally manufactured in China. Frankly the parts looked somewhat 'non-standard' and after unsuccessful attempts to locate suitable replacements online I decided to visit a local electrical parts supplier: Rexel Electrical Supplies at Alexandria in southern Sydney.

I was promptly served by a very personable and knowledgeable young man who assessed the broken part and cheerfully led me along into the huge Rexel warehouse and located a number of similar parts in the huge which were likely to do the job. But that is not where the service ended. When I explained the circumstances of the repair the young sales assistant returned to his office and telephoned a colleague at home on his way home from work that was able to suggest the best possible match for the repair.

The parts easily fitted into the unit and provided a repair which I consider is likely to provide a more robust fitting than the original.
