TO nswnotill: WA isn't getting ripped off like you think. The stores in WA simply factor in the cost of shipping the products in thier stores across this vast continent we live on. 90% of all shipping containers enter this country via Sydney's docks and is then loaded onto trucks and trains for distribution to relevent importers which then onsell to you the consumer. Sure your pc in sydney cost $800 and in Wa the same pc cost $1600 but check the fine print. Are they identical in terms of the parts used to build and how much does it cost to ship the $800 computer from sydney to Wa. I work for an importer who sells aus wide a treadmill from us will cost $800 in any state but to deliver in Sydney is $75 to send the same treadmill to Wa is $400-$600 depending on Where in Wa.
$400 for Perth metro and up to $600 for the rest of the state so i don't think this is a fair gripe. |

Cas98,
Unfortunately you use a poor example of being 'ripped off' with fast food meals in USA vs. Australia.
The ones being 'ripped off' in USA are the farmers who grow the food, and the underpaid Latino workers who do the manual labour in the fields to tend the vegetable crops and pick the produce.
Also the restaurant staff are 'ripped off' with poor wages, and must make up their remuneration by tips from the customers.
You eat cheap food at their expense. |

Australian's in general get ripped off all the time.
I had dinner at the Golden Corale in Arlington Ohio, USA in Oct 08. A full buffet. Now, consider the Sizzlet salad bar, 3 meters long and 2 meters wide. That's 10 meters of food space for what? $17/head if you ONLY have the salad bar? Drinks, steaks or other meals are extra. The GC has about 30 meters of food space, covering everything from entres deserts, at $9.95/head including drinks, steak and other meals.
All Australian's should feel ripped off, not JUST those in WA. |

this is for all Western Australians
I was born in wa, but my parents moved us all to Victoria when we were very young, I became disabled and thought it would be a good idea if I came back to where I started, but how wrong was I, all the people that live here in wa are being ripped off evryday and most of you dont know it, I recently mad a trip back to melbourne for a short time and you can buy groceries, computers, printers and all other consumer goods for half the price you buy them for in wa,eg I bought a printer in melb for $108.00 but i9n Perth the exact same one is $229.00 I bought a new PC for $800.00 but the exact PC here in wa is $1600.00 and all the other things I saw while I was there for the 6 weeks, so if the wa government does not want me to spend my money in pertyh I will not, in fact I buy a lot og goods in Melb and Sydney because as I said I would be ripped off if I bought it n wa, cheers |
