Hi Perche,
I haven't had an expereince with Jandson Homes, but recently gave up with Provincial Homes after 15 months of stress. It would apprear, in my opinion, that one wither has a simple building project and has a good expereince, or just has a flat out difficult time (regardless of simplicity in the build).
My advice would be to keep at it while it is fiscally viable, and if you have signed a building
contract you will find that typically only the builder can quite the contract. This can be initiated by the customer though in cases of poor finance or litigation.
Overall, don't let a single guard down though. You will find, as we did, that desipte the vast array of errors the building company made, the error rate did not decrease. As hard as you try to keep traction in the project, you are at the mercy of their schedule.
Unlike Canada, and some other developed nations, as long as the incremental payment scheme is in place, the builder have no incentive to shorten the schedule. If the builder was required to carry more of the cost for the term of the build (i.e. no money exchanges until keys are handed over) then we consumers will never hold the power.
Good luck. |
