So, you are seriously telling me that YOUR insurer is Comminsure??? After all you know and see on the medias about the Commonwealth Bank of Australia who are the owners of Comminsure you persist and give your business to this dishonest and greedy mob??? My experience with them is likewise, a real saga not worth remembering, I am now insured with a local group and so far, so good, even after a claim following a storm, but it took some hard work to convince them to foot the bill, yes, insurers are crooks.

I have an rental property insured with comminsure.
Water leak developed inside the wall between shower and laundry.
Could have been there for months, increasing to the point where water flooded under the house, {house was build on stumps}.
At this point i have noticed water escaping in the street, called plumber, leak fixed.
At this time i have entered house, [after last inspection approx. 5-6 months ago], found water damage inside house, mould in the plaster walls, etc. Had to evict tenants due to the mould.
Called insurance they said it will be covered under the policy.
Estimator come saying house is not worth repairing, to much damage.Another building consultant from insurance come...
Comminsure than denied the claim saying; Water leak was there for a long time. Builder estimated damages about 180 K.
I am taking comminsure to the VCAT, for water damages, loss of rent and out of pocket expenses. Hearing set for March 2015, I discovered leak in May 2013. Will keep you informed.

After receiving our water bill mid October 2014, we discovered a 20 per cent increase in the water usage. I phoned Sydney Water who advised me to take a leak test on the property, which I did. We discovered that there was a leak someone in the home of around 19 litres every 4 hours which calculates to 3,420 litres per month.
We immediately contacted Comminsure and lodged a claim with them on 21/10/14. To date, we have had an assessor out. No communication from Comminsure regarding the assessors report.
Comminsure also sent a rep out who conducted an exploratory test on 2 occasions. He was able to locate the leak in the home. It was within an internal wall and concealed, hence the reason we were not able to see it.
It has now been 15 days since we lodged the claim and still no action from Comminsure.
We have decided to turn the water off to the property to prevent further damage. This means, no showers, no washing, no cleaning = NOTHING.
We have 3 children who are becoming quite distressed about the situation.
After reading other customers reviews last night I must say that I do not hold a great deal of confidence in Comminsure covering the claim. We are in the process of taking the information to a media source. I can be contacted on 0402477500 should anyone else wish to join me.

I had a claim with Comminsure about 8 years ago.. They were very good,
The gentleman who called around was also excellent...
antennas on a tower were hit by lightning which came inside the house killing My computer and damaging the antennas and cable...
I was very pleased... Couldn't have been nicer...
after 8 years I hope the service is the same....

Yes the main problem with Comminsure is taking so long to rectify the problems so then you end up with more damage. It's also hard to communicate. Just not worth it.

"They even came out and had a look on a Saturday for us which was great. They now want to have a plumber inspect (I have been told i don't have to pay for any of this even if they refuse the claim which is impressive)."

Standard practice - not specific to Comminsure.

Note any "work" the plumber does in locating and fixing the fault you may have to pay for if they knock back the claim.

Plus they won't pay for the rectification eg if he puts a hole in the wall to find the source of the damage they won't pay for this hole to be fixed if the claim is not improved.

I am hoping I have a better experience than you guys! I was actually really impressed with comminsure so far, we have a shower leaking into the wall behind it. Once i rang them the girl i initially spoke to was really nice, explained it really well to me (i have never claimed on insurance before). Within 2 hours the builders had rung me to arrange an inspection. They even came out and had a look on a Saturday for us which was great. They now want to have a plumber inspect (I have been told i don't have to pay for any of this even if they refuse the claim which is impressive). I hope that maybe things have improved but it sounds like you all started having problems after this stage? I guess i will just have to wait and see, will keep you posted!

We have cancelled our home and contents with comminsure after almost 10 years as customers due to the fact that we put in a claim for water damage in our shower area which after having an assessor out, and then 3 contracters to do "quotes". I suspect that two of them were in fact doing sneaky further assessment for the insurance company, they denied the claim

WHILE ANNOYING, my issue is that they took 3 months to deny and only after I had repeatedly phoned them on the direct number I was given so I could speak with the person handling the claim, getting no response, voice mail only, no call backs.
I had to ring them on the 132 number over and over and repeat the whole process over and over and over, when a call back was asked for it never came

they say in the notes on the file that they called back, however I have NO missed calls, messages, txts or voice mails on my mobile from them and NO messages on my answering machine at home from them.
The issue for us became not that the claim was denied, that it took so long, 3 months, and as I told them everytime, this is our only shower in the house, no we don't have an ensuite, the longer they delay processing the claim the worse the damage gets

and once I finally found out the claim was denied I put it to them as to who will pay for the extra damage that has occured since the claim was first lodged. For if we had been told there and then, no cover, we would have had it repaired right away instead of sitting around waiting for some useless idiot to NOT do their job properly for months they were tongue tied on that one

They have been totally useless, with NO customer care, NO communication and NO clue! They are done, cancelled them and insured with another company in the same hour and saved over $200.00 on the premium Comminsure=Crapinsure

We are likewise fed up with Comminsure..the first time I had to contact them was in an emergency...we had storm water flooding through our house and they hung up on me because I didn't have my policy number with me!...I had to ring back via the complaints line to get through!...That should have warned me off...but I statyed with them with our home/contents insurance...bad move!
We had a dishwaher pipe leak overnight and flood our kitchen...and damage our flooring (partile board type..which had been sanded and coated with varnish so it looks like cork...of course it has swolen in places.
The 'investigator' arrived and apparently he thinks that there was a hole in the hose caused by a mouse...i say he THINKS...it's a possibility...it's also paoosible that the hose had rubbed against the metal of the dishwasher over the years and weakened it as well allowing a hole to form. The bottom line is it is an opinion not a fact. The claim has been disallowed....does this mean that all housefire claims can be disallowed because a mouse (or similar) MIGHT have chewed through a wire?
We will certainly be leaving this insurer...but we feel that we have been ripped off.
add tothat that we have never recieved any corresondence from them...we pay by direct debit. Turns out they have somehow listed our addressas one that we hadn't lived at for three years...this policy was taken out to insure the new home we had purchased and the address should have been the same one. Incompetance again.

We were very unhappy with the service from Comminsure and particularly the follow up being far too slow (we did get our money in the end).

I am currently dealing with a Claim with CommInsure that is not my fault. You would think after paying premiums for years that you would be supported and communicated with effectively, however my experience has been far from satisfying. As the customer I feel like they are treating me like a criminal. If they don't improve I will be going to the Media and generating enough bad publicity for them all based on facts and there inappropriate customer service. Like others they are slow to respond. After ringing daily for a week they finally called me back to tell me they were assigning a new Case Manager.....Watch this Space.

Comminsure paid me out within 2 days of my threat to speak to ACA and also paid me more than I beleive the market value was. I have a feeling that i was paid to shut up. Will never use comminsure again and neither should you.
