Around 18 months ago I purchased a Navman ICN520 GPS for $850. The unit works and has always worked just fine. It was supplied with 2005 maps which were current at the time. Now that we are about to take off around Oz in a motorhome for a few years (which is why we bought the GPS in the first place), I enquired about the price and availability of map upgrades. The Navman website says they out of stock and cannot be ordered. Email enquires direct to Navman has elicited no reply and a reply from one of their dealers confirmed that map upgrades are no longer available for this model. So what good is a GPS without up to date maps.
In short, I have to buy another GPS. It certainly will not be a Navman nor can I recommend them to others to be trusted.

You think that's bad. About three years ago I bought a Navman ICN630 gps. At the time it was a top of the line model and because of the price, about $2,000, I contacted Navman about the ongoing availability of maps. In their words "We will always be able to supply new maps because it's an ongoing source of sales for us."
You guessed it, the first time I go to update maps they are suddenly no longer available.
In light of their admitted practice of retail price maintenance and the shoddy way they treat customers, I join the chorus and urge everyone considering Navman products to look elsewhere.

I have a Garmin C510. I hope I don't have the same problems when it comes time to update the maps on mine.

I went to the Navman site to ask how our Navman could have lost the map for WA. They couldn't even be bothered to answer my query. I did notice that you can upgrade to a new model Navman for $179 - the normal cost of new maps. Apparently you send you old unit in with payment of $179 and you get a new model with 2007 maps. Not that 2007 maps are any good in 2008 with the rate of development going on.
