I attended a speed dating session this valentines day in a packed venue with 150+ people. The price was $50, and nobody could hear the host over all the talking. Infact once it was over the organizers vanished and myself and a few others didnt know what to do with their match card.
I called today regarding what to do with my match card that never made it back to an organizer due to the hosts disappearing without taking our match card, and i was told that the 'match service was not included in the service last night' and that it was a 'taste of speed dating' and it was 'up to us to get each others contact details' which is obviously way too late, and the opposite to what it states ON THEIR WEBSITE! So despite me and others wanting to exchange details, staying true to etiquette we ignored it and followed procedure.
We where not told about this CRITICAL PEICE OF INFORMATION:
- in emails leading up to the event
- at the event or on any of the material handed out
- not told on the MATCH CARD
- nobody could hear the announcer over a packed room of people talking
- their website states the opposite procedure
So ignorant was I and everyone else I spoke to about the fact we had to get contact details ourselves, that several women i spoke to gave me their full first two names because they assumed that they would not be the only 'katie' there that night, for example.
I am EXTREMELY dissapointed with the way the event was organized and I know from talking to everyone that I am one of many, many people.
It angers me to think of all the lonely souls that came to this valentines day marathon with good intentions to meet someone and where NOT properly notified that it was not a 'normal match service' (whatever that means), who not only paid money for the service, but obviously spent money beautifying themselves, getting there, buying drinks and going home to be left empty handed and unable to contact someone they clicked with.
I have contacted the organizers at Fast Impressions and they say they basically cant help us. They argue that the host was meant to tell us that it was not a 'normal night' but if they did, nobody knew.
