Your right the worst bit is that they let you just get up and leave and no one said a word or tried to fix the situation. They where obviously aware that you had not ordered or eaten anything or they would have been concerned about someone going without paying the bill.

I once had a bad experience at a Chilli's restaurant. One of the staff actually asked how the meal was and when my dad said it was terrible they had no idea what to do or say just left the table as quick as possible and avoided us until we left.

I agree, you were treated poorly but why not go back & sample great service as the manager promised? You never know, you might even be offered a freeby of some sort as compensation for your first bad experience.

Tonight my husband, 3 kids and I decided to try the brand new Black Stump Restaurant at Wentworthville. We booked a table for 6.30pm and arrived on time. When we got inside we were told we would have to wait for our table as it was not cleared yet from the guests before. That was fine we had no problem waiting and we didn't have to wait very long.
We were then led to our seats. When the 'hostess' sat us at the booth she did not ask if we would like to order any drinks. We were even ready to order food as we had looked at the menu whilst sitting in the bar waiting for our table.
So we sat and waited...and waited....and waited. We watched us 2 other tables of people were seated in our section and food and drink orders taken straight away. We were still just waiting for drinks.
We could see straight into the kitchen and there were waitresses standing in our view, chatting. Another waitress was standing a few tables away with her order pad and pen poised but not doing anything else other than looking around the restaurant.
At 7:05pm we decided to leave as we got the feeling we were shoved in the corner with kids and were probably not going to get good service at all.
As we walked out 2 young girls were standing behind the front desk. They just stood and watched us leave. When I told them the service was terrible and we were still waiting for someone to even take a drink order they just stared at me and said nothing. I think this is the part that annoyed me the most.
I have heard that The Black Stump is trying to lift their image but this is not the impression we got from Wentworthville. They are a restaurant being run by kids. I rang the manager who asked if we would come back and he would make sure we were looked after but I told him the damage had already been done.
What I would really like to know is where has all the great customer service gone in today's society. I work in hospitality and no matter how painful or demanding the customer is being I try my best to look after them and make sure they enjoy their dining experience.
Unfortunately we won't go back to the Black Stump not even to sample the food. It's a case of once bitten twice shy.
