unhappy with Airtalk

Organisation name: AirTalk Pty. Ltd.
Issue type: Comment

I had the director of Airtalk Pty Ltd come to my home to provide a quote to have 4 Airconditoners fitted from an add in the local paper. the quote was more than quoted in the paper however it was explained that there was brackets to be fitted etc ( not stated in the ad)but thats ok, I was told that the people fitting the airconditioners were the best on the coast and that the director would be here to oversee the job, he also advised that everything would be cleaned up and an invoice would be provided and left for me. I in my moment of weakness accepted what this person was saying and got a quote for $5200.00 ( considerably more than the ad in the paper)and gave the go ahead. NOTE I paid for the job in advance, direct debit to his account, I have a txt thanking me for prompt payment. I sent him a txt this morning requesting that his staff take thier boots off as the carpet had just been done ( copy available)Well I have just arrived home from work to find dirt on the floor / carpet that had just been done, were the drilling had been done, furniture all over the place, in summary the place was a shambles. So I rang the director, ( yes I know it was late, however, I had paid in advance $5200.00) I EXPALINED THAT I WAS NOT HAPPY AFTER WHAT HE HAD PROMISED AND I REALISE IT WAS LATE HOWEVER, I HAD PAID IN ADVANCE AND THE JOB WAS NOT DONE PROPERLY!!! ( imagine walking in after a big day at work, and finding furniture every where, dust and crap everywhere) well, here is the response-HOW @#!**#@ DARE YOU RING ME, THE JOB IS DONE YOU @#$%^$# IDIOT, HOW #@$%^%$# DARE YOU RING ME. In return I hung up the phone, after paying $5200 I figure that was the only option rather that argue, so here we are. This morning one of the peole that fitted the airconditioners called around to my home because he had left his drill on the roof. I brought him inside and showed him the mud all over the floor and carpet and the mess that the place was left in, his response WOW THERES A MESS ALRIGHT MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE CLEANED UP!, then he left, a care factor of ZERO. BEWARE OF AIR TALK.

I would never pay for this type of situation up front, you have nothing to fall back on. If you had not have paid until the job was completed you could have forced them to clean up as they promised.

I wouldn't have let anyone back in the house to get any equipment they left.

Airtalk obviously don't honour their part of the contract however you really shouldn't pay up front - if they insist tell them no contract!

what drill?

Sounds like most workmen. We had a lot of work done on our house after a hail storm and all the the tradespeople except the clading guy left mess everywhere. Screws bits of roof sheeting all over the yard steps etc and even there lunch wrappers.
