Organisation name: Cater Repair
Issue type: Complaint

Had a very long conversation with Cater Repair regarding the 3rd bill for the same problem that we weren't supposed to get as we thought it would be covered in their warranty. They accused us of making things up. We will pay but everyone beware. You will be charged through the nose for call out fees, etc but they do not stand by their service.

Dear Customer,

I would like to explain the circumstances sourrounding your job. The first visit to your site was to repair a water filter housing on your ice machine. This was repaired on 27 May 2008. On 25 September 2008 (4 months later) we recieved a call from you. Your ice machine was making noise and there is water on the floor. We attended and found the water was due to condensation from ice cold water sitting in the drain pipe. We hung the drain to eliminate this issue. On test the ice machine ran with no noise. The head chef was informed that the machine has several moving parts that could cause the noise and it would be an expensive exercise to guess and replace. The chef was asked to call as soon as the machine made any noise so we can inspect the problem. Almost 2 months later on 21 November we received a call. By this time we had invoiced the previous job, and you had paid with no complaint. We attended the job, found the noise and repaired it. I understand that you had 3 invoices for the same machine, but they were for several issues over 6 months. Had we randomly replaced a part and it did not fix the noise, would you have been happy to pay. We did not claim to have fixed the noise, but we did have to make a decision with your financial requirements in mind. The return visit to repair the noise was conciderably cheaper than shamelessly replacing random parts at the your expence. Finally, Cater Repair does warranty all work. In the event the work completed fails within a reasonable timeframe, we will return at no further cost. In your case we could not make any repairs as the reported fault was not present at the time of the visit. With this in mind you were only charged a minimal labour cost and service fee. If you require any further information please don't hesitate to call.
