so it begs the question - if you're not happy about providing such details - why not just make some up? Give a false DOB - they're only trying to make sure you're over 18 I would think as the boards are most likely unmoderated. I would assume (and I could be wrong) that it's for child protection reasons. Certainly wouldn't get as het up as you have about it. Why is them asking you for those details such a gross invasion of privacy? They want to verify you are who you say you are ???

Have sought feedback on Channel Ten's privacy policy
but got nothing back.

Channel Ten request full birthday, address and sex dtails just to post to their moderated MasterChef blog. They don't need any of it and are not adhering to the law.

Globally the general trend is towards corporations gathering more information than they legally need and then mining it without our permission. Customers are being commoditised. just witness Facebook's recent assertion that they owned all data on their network! Can you believe their nerve. This shows a flagrant disregard for individual and customer rights and its starting here too.
