Call out fee = time to travel + cost of travel + tech time on site. You do not complain when professional doctor charges you $250 for a 15min session, do you? Or a lawer? Why techs are any different?
I am a TV technician. When I have to come out I do tell people of a service call fee and this does not cover any repair I may do to TV, except may be fiddling with controls or checking connection (but I charge less than $132). It will also cover me taking TV to workshop if I have too.
Quotation itself will be at additional cost that will be taken out of final repair cost if quotation is accepted. I am a professional and if I have to spend an hour traveling to you and back to the shop, this is an hour I did not spend repairing stuff, hence it is billed at same cost.
I must admit, in case of Tv repairs, when I explain it to customers, they organise to bring their TVs in and save themselves service call fee.

I am very upset with this mob called all suburbs 24 hr appliance repairs, they are a scam. I asked for someone to come out and look at my washing machine, the tech came out looked at it for 5 minutes than told me that the call out fee would cover labor costs as well and all I would have to do is pay for the parts, I agreed, the tech also said that the parts will take only 4 days so I should have it fixed by thur fri, It has now been 2 weeks and he is still telling me they are waiting on parts. I rang today and asked him if they were a ligit company and he flew off the handle taking offence to what I said. I still have no washing machine. Never deal with these sharks they are shoddy.

Did they say $132.00 to diagnose and repair, or just diagnose? if yes to repair as well, I wouldn't have paid. Sounds like a scam to me, giving you a really ridiculous high price in the hope that you'll say no and then getting $132.00 for nothing and leaving. for the price of $468.00 plus $132.00 = $600.00 you can buy a new washing machine.

My gripe concerns the use of mobile technicians. My partner spoke with a representative of All Suburbs 24hr Appliances Repairs, explaining an issue we were having with our washing machine. My partner was very comprehensive when describing the problem & as expected he indicated that he would be unable to diagnose the problem without viewing the item. He stated that for a fee of $132 for 30 minutes, more than likely, they would be able to repair the problem. On the first scheduled visit they did not arrive & a second time was arranged. Upon his arrival I showed him to the machine, he spun the bowl a couple of times & without even removing a screwdriver from his bag (within less than 2 minutes) he had surmised the problem. After this he placed a call to his boss and came back with a quote of $468 to correct the problem + the $132 call-out fee. When I questioned the technician on his diagnosis & the price he delivered the company line of "every one else charges the same or more".
Not only did I have no choice but to pay him, but he left no report outlining the details of the diagnosis for the 2 minutes work & $132 we had spent for the privilege of his professional knowledge.
Whatever you do, don't be misled by this company. My partner located them on the internet. Normally we wouldn't do something like this but the one time that we decide to trust the world we get burnt. Stay away from ALL SUBURBS 24 HR APPLIANCE REPAIRS.
