Anyone else surprised about the amount of press coverage his death is receiving in Australia?

Surely, it's not front page news is it? Worth a mention but not worth the pages that have been devoted to him.

I think it's a cop out from the Australian media. With so many stories going around, it just seems easier to grab the stories off AP and re print them.

Particularly since his involvement in the "Chappaquiddick incident"

I would suggest that the death of the last Kennedy politician of the Kennedy dynasty is a pretty big story.

The Kennedy's were basically the Royal Family of USA.

If the Queen died it would be a pretty big story too.

Queen Elizabeth II is our Queen regnant. I think you might be some way off the mark comparing the two.

I would suggest that most Australian dont give a stuff about Queen Elizabeth II, but if she died it would be news, just as a Kennedy dying is news.

I was not comparing Kennedys to the Windsors, just pointing out that to the Yanks the Kennedy's were considered their Royal family, and as such was newsworthy.
