Hi Wibbly

You don't need an extended warranty as your TV is still covered under statutory warranty. Go back to Harvey Norman (these are the people you have the contract with) and get them to organise to get it fixed it.

If you have no luck with Harvey Norman, lodge a complaint with The Office of Fair Trading (NSW) (or the equivalent in your state).

Cheers

John

Did the salesman told you he'll give you an extended warranty, or did you get a certificate of extended warranty? if you have a certificate then you should be covered, if not, then forget it, the salesman lied to you.

I Bought LG TV in 22/3/2008 salesman told us he would give us extended warranty because we had purchased $10500.00 worth of goods. The TV went pop on 27/11/2009 so we called the warranty firm only to be told extended warranty was not on this unit. We rang Harvey Norman Only to be informed that the salesman had left the firm and that we would have to either pay a repair company to fix it or by a new TV.
What should we do next pay up or kick up a fuss. This TV cost $2550-00 we thought we had a warranty but the salesman lied as he did not put this warranrty on any of the higher priced goods only a DVD player worth $200-00 and a microwave worth $400-00. Why would we extend on these products and not the expensive one.
