Magazine subscription costs

I enjoy the monthly magazine Farming Small Areas, and wanted to subscribe. Since there is no web form, I called Rural Press, who indicated that a subscription would be $35 for 6 months. Given the cover price of $2, and assuming postage cost of $1, that's about $3 per issue handling charge.

In my experience with other subscriptions, publishers usually offer a discount on the cover price for subscriptions. I would happily have paid a little extra for the convenience of having the magazine delivered, but a premium of triple the price does not seem like good value.
