Even more amusingly; having found many of the users posts both here and elsewhere, they've had nothing but problems with optus and nothing but good things from Exetel.

No idea where this post came from.

Hahaha.
I love how their example of a "good" company is Optus.

A few points of comparison between Optus and Extel on the Australian Broadband Survey (2008) Report (the latest one that exists as the 2009 one isn't out yet).

"Would you recommend your current ISP to other people?"
Exetel: 88.7%
Optus DSL: 46%

"Were you happy with the reliability of your internet connection in 2008?"
Exetel: 64.7% "Very Happy"
Optus: 44.3% "Very Happy" (38.4% "Can Live with it")

"When calling customer support, how long did you have to wait on the phone (or talk to an operator) before you spoke to the right person?"
Less than a minute:
Exetel: 12.1%
Optus DSL: 2.7%

1 to 4 minutes:
Exetel: 39.2%
Optus: 19.3%

5 to 9 minutes:
Exetel 24.1%
Optus: 23.5%

TOTAL UNDER 10 MINUTES:
Exetel: 75.4%
Optus: 45.5%

Now don't get me wrong; Exetel is NOT the best ISP out there, but you've failed terribly in your efforts at researching quality if you think that Optus is better than them.

For the record:
STOP SHOUTING, IT'S RUDE!!!!

Actually I don't think that the OP deserve any reply to their post, it's just stupid.

I don't get this either. You sound very young or immature. Why not come back when you have actually done business with and been let down by the company. Just a thought.

A final observation, it seems you are an (un?)happy Optus customer who has decided not to switch to Exetel for whatever reason, and have decided to rant about Exetel anyway.

It appears Exetel have not done anything to you as you have never done business with them. Would you enlighten us on your motive for your post?

I wrote "Many" and you provided one exception. Well done. The reality is that many ISPs only do direct debit accounts. If you cannot disprove that please do not waste bandwidth.

> EXETEL ARE A STINGY POCKETING ISP WHO DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

Screaming based on hearsay will not convince anyone... this is your opinion based on other peoples' comments as best I can tell from your post.

> ....THEY ARE DODGY. AFTER HEARING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO SWITCH

Have you personally had a bad experience or are you simply screaming (all uppercase is internet screaming!) their business practices from hearsay?

> -PRO RATA BILLING

Is usually in the customers' favour. How is this bad as Exetel does it?

> -NOT OPEN WEEKENDS

Their contacts page is top rate. Is that page misrepresentation? Their contact hours could be an inconvenience to some, but it is not a secret what they are.

> -NOT ACCEPTING BPAY/PAYPAL/DIRECT DEPOSIT

Many ISPs only do direct debit accounts. Your choice whether you are comfortable doing business that way, and it appears you made your choice.

> -AUTOMATED RESPONSE EMAILS

Whatever that means. Is that an acknowledgement an email was received (good practice) or don't they ever reply to a problem - big difference.

STAY CLEAR OF EXETEL- THEY ARE DODGY. AFTER HEARING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO SWITCH WITH THEM BECAUSE OF:

-PRO RATA BILLING
-CUSTOMER SERVICE FEEDBACK FROM OTHERS
-NOT OPEN WEEKENDS
-NOT ACCEPTING BPAY/PAYPAL/DIRECT DEPOSIT
-AUTOMATED RESPONSE EMAILS
