Post subject: referal for specialists
Organisation name: dr adams ashford specialist centre
Issue type: Complaint

hi, first post here, my gripe is that my wife had a specialists appointment today, when we arrived we were told that the previous specialist office had not forwarded a referal, we have to travel 160 klm round trip to get there. my wife had rang 3 times in the last 2 weeks to make sure that the referal was to be sent, in the end she still had not received it the day before we had to travel down for the new appointment, she then rang the specialist office where she was told they would fax it to the new specialist. this never happened and on arriving at the new specialist we were told that the referal had not been faxed.on ringing the old specialist office the new specialist office was then told that the old specialist was not there so they couldnt fax the referal. by the way this new appointment was made by the old specialist office "THREE MONTHS EARLIER" and they said then they would send the referal. who do i officially complain to as this is not good enough. complaining to the office where the fault lies is a waste of time, they need a blast from some medical watch dog, who do i write to.
thanks
fergi

I doubt there's much point in complaining to anyone except the clinic itself. I don't think there's any ruling body who will take them to task for not faxing a referral on time.

Perhaps complain to the clinic's manager as it would have been up to the clerical staff to send the fax.
