Funny you should ask about the manager! I am sure it was the manager who served me as the deli had only one very young man serving and he was obviously learning on a very busy morning. I assumed it was the manager who came in to deal with waiting customers as he was giving orders to staff. The head manager of the store has never been in touch, just some smart whipper snapper company 'Public Liability Manager'.

I did take a sample of the fish to my local health dept and the information they gave me regarding the lab results and their subsequent inspections at Woolworth's deli in question was that "Woolworths had 'issues' with handling of fish, turning of the product (?), and storage temperature". Apparently as a result Woolworths have "changed some of their procedures".If that is not an admission of their liability I don't know what is.

well actually one adult and one child tasted a piece of the fish and the whole meal was immediately discarded for obvious reasons. The fish was probably still slightly frozen so didn't smell and was laid straight out of the wrapping onto the grill.

quote "shark fillets which made our family of six ill"

quote "We had to throw out all the veges on the plates as well in case they were contaminated"

So you all sat down to dinner, ate only the fish.. and left the veggies on plates until you all started being sick, and only then decided not to eat them? Or is it that you are planning on asking for re-imbursement for a pack of BirdsEye frozen peas as well?

If you all ate the fish, and the fish made you sick, enough to get a lab test done - I would think it highly likely you ate the veges on your plate at the time also.

You may want to rethink your story.

I would think that if the fish was rotten you could smell it before it was cooked.

you can also call your local council and ask for the health inspector, tell him or her what happened, they will go to the shop in question and check their stock and also their fridge for the correct temperature etc.

Well no, and did you complain and if so what happened? If not why are you complaining here and not at Woolies?

What led to the lab report?

Do you think it is acceptable for Woolworths Fresh to sell rotten frozen fish? I bought six ghost shark fillets which made our family of six ill. They were taken straight from wrapping and placed on grill. Lab analyses results:(1) a. Total volatile nitrogen measure: mg/100g result: 230. b. The level of total volatile nitrogen on the sample as received is excessive and is consistent with a spoiled product. (2) a. standard plate count measure: cfu/g result: 1800 b. enterobacteriaceac measure: cfu/g result: 90 c. coagulase positive staph. measure: cfu/g result: <100. We had to throw out all the veges on the plates as well in case they were contaminated. The whole family was upset.
