With FOXTEL's IQ (or if dealing with customer support - low IQ), there is a facility that allows you to link a series and have it record said series without further intervention.
I call crap on that one.
It might work if said programs were on at the same time every week, but once a program time gets changed, the IQ series link more often than not doesn't follow suit.
One example of that is Chequered Flag. Although it's mostly on at the same time every week, when it does get changed, the series link gets 'lost' and the new time has to be set manually. You then have to hope the following weeks program has a series link attached to it, or else you're back to square one.
There have also been times that due to a recording 'clitch', episodes of my partners fav shows have been missed (let's not go there, shall we?). I copped a week of crap through no fault of my own.
I have now come to the realisation that you MUST check after every recording to ensure that the next weeks episode has come up. If not, it must be done manually.

I couldn't agree more. I have been with FoxTel for 5 years, and have gone from an IQ unit up to an IQ 2 unit and have had the same problem.
I recently contacted support about programs being dropped from series link for no reason, and even one which linked itself back to the start of the same season it had just finished recording and was told that this is a "known problem". I asked when it was likely to be fixed and was told "no idea". This same issue was raised nearly 4 years ago and back then I was also told "no idea".
So they have made absolutely no progress on a known issue in 4 years and yet still claim that it will be fixed. That they have no clue when it will be fixed after all this time tells me that they have no intention of fixing it and do not consider it a priority. It is obviously an issue with the hardware/software that hasn't been corrected even after an upgrade in technology.
I was told by the FoxTel advocate that the series link service "worked most of the time" and that I should be happy... I wonder if they would still give me the service if I decided to pay them "most of the time"?
