I agree, I did quotes and none were any cheaper than Medibank or MBF! And all have crap cover too.
Fight on and get your money refunded.
They don't listen either.

I urge all members to be VERY, VERY cautious of dealing with any company that specialises in 'selecting the right deal for you'. From what I have found, that is FAR from reality!
I have had Health Insurance all my life. In mid 2006 I went through I-Select to find - what I thought - would be a better cover. From the very start I questioned the premium quoted - though less than my previous fund, it still felt quite high but I was constantly assured it was correct.
After yet another premium hike this year, I decided to do my own research and shop around. It was only at this stage that I found that I-Select had REALLY ripped me off and cost me dearly!
On my original application for with I-Select I CLEARLY, very clearly ticked that i was transferring from another fund - I even wrote this in specifically. I gave not only my previous Health fund name, but my old membership number. And signed to the question - 'I hereby authorise XX to cancel my membership with your organisation and obtain details about my membership'. This referred to the Transfer Certificate and by saying yes to this, my new health fund had the authority to confirm that I had previously held health insurance since my early 20's.
Now - nearly 4 years later, I have found that I-Select DID NOT do this, and as a result, I have been charged a 46% surcharge under the assumption that I only recently took up Health Insurance!! I trusted them to do the right thing: I questioned them, but was always assured it was the right rate, and with the total ambiguity of their paperwork, no wonder it was hard to check it out!!
As a result, I have been over-charged for nearly 4 years, and now I have to do the run around to try and get this over-payment back. Total and complete incompetence from I-Select and I would warn anyone, and especially anyone unfortunate enough to have health insurance arranged through I-Select - to check their paper work THOUROUGHLY.
Now I have to waste so much of my time, running around trying to correct THEIR stupidity. Do your own research - don't trust these so-called specialist referral companies. After all, their MAIN interest is in their bottom line, not yours.
