Whilst driving on 27.04.2010, I listened to a song on Sea FM, which I had heard before, but I did not know the name of it or the artist. The announcer said she had met the artist recently in Cairns.
Upon returning home, I called the station, and requested the name of the song and the artist. The employee said that someone would check the log and call me back.
I called again two days later and spoke with another person, who said that she would follow up and call me that afternoon or the next day.
In the absence of any reply, I filled in their online “contact us” form with the details of the previous 2 calls.
I also stated that I had expected a better response from a radio station that continuously spruiks that they are the local station and suggested that perhaps a little less time spent on denigrating their competitors and a little more time in paying some attention to their listeners would be in order.
Since being forced by the ACMA to divest one of their FM station, thus ending their commercial broadcasting monopoly in Cairns, they have continuously broadcast their own station plugs which denigrate their former station.
They also incessantly spruik that they are the “long time local” despite only having been operating in Cairns for 10 years, in comparison to the divested station which evolved from a station which commenced over 70 years ago.
Perhaps their burning desire to be a “long time local” is the reason for their total disinterest in assisting residents, so as to imitate the poor service that many local businesses are notorious for.
The “Contact Us” section of their website contains only their online query form. There is no street address, email address, or phone or fax numbers on their website.
I guess it helps to stop listeners annoying them by calling.
