Organisation name: Harvey Norman Registered company is listening
Issue type: Complaint

Harvey Norman in Campbelltown consist of a number of franchises under the one roof. You have flooring, furnishings, bathrooms, bedding, computers, whitegoods etc. They do not communicate with each other and are incapable of offering an overall sevice if you want to purchase items from different franchises.
I recently wanted to purchase a "Saratoga" 7 pice dining room suite, large entertainment unit, coffee table & buffet unit.
The pricing negotiated was OK, I had to pay for delivery also OK. What was NOT OK was that the table & chairs came as a kit and I ended up having to put it all together. Had I wanted to buy a kit I could have paid an awefull lot less and gone to Freedom or Ikea. They also refused to take all the rubbish with them. The sales dept did NOT make it clear that I would have to put it together nor did they advise that I was responsible to dispose of the packaging.
I also wanted a 42" LG television and Blu-Ray home theatre system. They couldn't or wouldn't communicate between franchises for a co-ordinated delivery so I took my business to Clive Peeters who delivered, installed and took the rubbish with them.
Am in my late 50's with plenty of disposable income and need to spend many more $'s upgrading the house. Harvey Norman whilst convenient will not see a single cent as the customer service leaves an awefull lot to be desired.

I have personally found Clive Peeters more negotiable with things like delivery which do cost money and time too.

greatgats,

Have you tried negotiating your fully paid for but still on their dock product recently? Or have you not noticed Clive Peters are in voluntary receivership and any money paid them last week is gone unless you had your product already in your hands, otherwise you are in line as an unsecured creditor.

Great system that. Great management that. They absolutely knew they were going into receivership and screwed their customers anyway. Perhaps they will work it out and give people what they paid for, and perhaps not as a receivers first job is finding money for secured creditors not customers, and then unsecured creditors that includes customers who have paid in and gotten nothing.

Press reports Clive Peters is still taking money and deposits, and trading normally. Unless you paid them deposits or paid in full and did not get your products before they pulled the plug.

But they negotiate delivery. So eeeeasy
