Doctors - going back to get YOUR results

I'm finding it a very expensive & stupid practice nowadays to have to pay to go back to my doctor in order to get results of tests. they write you a 'referral' to get tests done. you have to pay the tests seperately yet the doctor is the only one allowed to get the results? you alone cannot get given them without going back to the doctor. if this isnt a money scam i dont know what is. why cant we get the doctors to pay for these tests then if thats how they want us to always go back for results. at $75 a visit to a gp for 10 mins consult these days, it turns into an expensive exercise all around.

I call my doctor on the phone for the test results, and if he's busy, he calls me back.
And when and if I need an Xray etc, I always ask for the results to be given to me to take to the doctor, I have a look first and if it's all negative I don't bother going to the doctor.
